Emergency Gynaecological Ultrasound
This is a 1-Day Advanced Ultrasound Course, aimed at covering the content of the Advanced CCPU (Emergency) Module in Acute Gynaecology & 1st Trimester Bleeding.
The course teaches normal pelvic sonographic anatomy and ultrasound technique, with an emphasis on the evaluation on the patient presenting acutely with pelvic pain and/or vaginal bleeding in the 1st trimester of pregnancy.
The practical component of the course will involve both trans-abdominal and trans-vaginal scanning, with state-of-art pelvic phantoms being used for the trans-vaginal component of the course.
The Hughes-Walters miscarriage review recommended that there be "access to ultrasound equipment and appropriately trained personnel available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to undertake transvaginal ultrasound."
This course is ideal for those emergency physicians or departments looking to establish a point-of-care acute O&G ultrasound service that focuses on the assessment of patients presenting with complications in the 1st trimester of pregnancy.
